Glory and honour and laud be to thee, Christ, King and Redeemer,
As when the children of old sang their Hosannas of praise.

Israel's Monarch art thou, the glorious offspring of David,
Thou that approachest as King, blest in the name of the Lord.

'Glory to thee in the height,' the heavenly armies are singing;
'Glory to thee upon earth,' men and creation reply.

Bearing their branches of palm, the Hebrews crowded to greet thee,
We with our prayers and our hymns now to thy presence draw nigh.

They came to utter thy praise as thou wentest thy way to thy Passion:
We to the King on his throne lift up our jubilant hymn.

Thou didst rejoice in their praise: may ours too by thee be accepted,
Gracious and merciful King, who in all goodness art pleased.
